Starting in the 2013-2014 school year, special education teachers were eligible for compensation for the additional required work above and beyond their 1.0 FTE caseload. The negotiated agreement states:
In the event a teacher’s IEP caseload exceeds the level of a 1.0 FTE, it is the teacher’s responsibility to notify the school administration immediately. If the school is unable to fill a vacant position at the site after it has been advertised for more than thirty (30) days, the district will compensate the teacher for one (1) day of pay at their daily rate for the completion of IEPs above their 1.0 FTE caseload.
This language in the negotiated agreement does not extend to individuals who have received a .2 extended contract for an increased caseload and the writing of IEPs.
There is no clear agreed upon procedure to report caseload overages to the district for this negotiated compensation. In an effort to follow up with anyone who qualifies under the above mentioned language, we have published a form on the ATF website which will help members report their overages and assist them in receiving compensation for their work.
You can fill the form out electronically by clicking this link. Please fill out all of the fields and hit submit. The form will be sent to us and we will work with APS to make sure that you are compensated.
You can also download a hardcopy of the form by clicking here. If you wish to fill out the form by hand, please print of the document. After filling out the form, you can submit it to us over fax at 505.266.1967 or you can scan the document and send it to email@example.com.
