It’s Election Time! Vote for Endorsed Candidates and Get Involved!

It’s Election Time Again!

Elections have big consequences for public education and union workers. We must keep our allies in policymaking positions and elect new friends who will help New Mexican educators obtain the salaries and the working conditions we need to best serve our students.

Educators cannot afford to sit this election out. We must get out the vote and we must get involved. You’ll find all the answers you need to accomplish these tasks below.

Get Out the Vote!

Here’s a few simple steps you’ll need to to take to vote in the 2022 General Election. Get involved! There are plenty of opportunities to help our allies’ campaigns. Email Dwayne at act@atfunion.org.

  1. Check Your Voter Registration Information to make sure it’s up-to-date. Ya don’t want any trouble at the polls.
  2. Update Your Voter Information
  3. If you wish to vote by mail, request an Absentee Ballot
  4. It’s always best to vote Early at one of these Voting Locations.
  5. If you like to put things off until the last minute (which we don’t recommend), here are the locations for Election Day Voting.

2022 General Election Timeline:

Oct. 11- Vote at Clerks Annex or hand in Absentee Ballot

Oct. 22- Early Voting Begins

Nov. 5- Early Voting Ends

Nov. 8- Election Day

Get Involved! Volunteer!

It is more important now than ever for ATF members to get involved by volunteering to help get out the vote. Here’s how you can contact the campaigns and plug in:

The Central New Mexico Labor Council is hosting our Get Out the Vote campaign for 2022. This is a great way to meet union siblings from other occupations as we unify to reach out to union families.

  • Union members can volunteer as much or as little as you can at 2 union halls in town. Stipends are available.
  • The campaign operates 4-8pm Monday-Thursday and 10am-2pm Saturday. Just show up and get your materials and some quick training. Contact Yvonne Pino (505)249- 1144.
  • East side location: LIUNA union hall 1030 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110
  • West Side location: IBEW 4921 Alexander Blvd. NE #A, Albuquerque , NM 87107

These ATF members’ campaigns are running tight races and need volunteers to support them:

Rep. Pamelya Herndon, House District 28

Rep. Joy Garratt, House District 29

  • Volunteers meet every Saturday 9-9:30am for coffee and snacks at 10308 Marin Drive, NW, 87114, then canvass.
  • Coordinator: Karlyne Nordholm
  • Phone: 505.463.5397 Email: fieldjoy4nmexico@gmail.com
